What is your role at Volvo IT?
I’m an Application Software Architect and the Chief Architect for NVS, the global reference architecture for .NET applications at Volvo IT
What types of projects/assignments/customers do you work with at Volvo IT using .Net?
As we have hundreds of .NET applications running and many under development all the time we use .NET in all types of applications (from production to sales). For example there are desktop applications (winform or WPF-based) in the factories and web applications (webforms, MVC3 or Silverlight) in more administrative areas.
What is most interesting about working with .Net within the Volvo IT environment?
Apart from all the interesting .NET projects, what I like the most is the learning atmosphere and the global .NET networking throughout Volvo IT. We are around 1000 registered MSDN users within Volvo IT which of makes our community very active.
Why should others with a .Net background consider Volvo IT?
At Volvo IT you have the possibility to work with the whole range of Microsoft tools and products in really interesting projects of all kinds. We use the latest techniques and IDEs like e.g. VS2010, TFS2010, MVC3 framework and WPF/Silverlight and using mainly C#. We also have tight collaboration with Telerik to give us the best UI-controls and of course tools as e.g. Resharper from Jetbrains for code productivity. Along with this we work in an agile way using Scrum, XP, TDD and Build automation using TFS to mention some.
