History

At the end of the 1920s, punched card machines paved the way for what was to become modern, computerised information processing at Volvo. The first computers at Volvo began operating in 1961. Developments have continued at an enormous pace.
  • In 1967, the Volvo Group gathered its IT operations together in a separate company for the first time
  • In 1998, the current global Volvo IT was created
  • In 2001, the IT staff at Renault Trucks and Mack Trucks were integrated with Volvo IT
  • In 2006, Picanol Group signed Mainframe contract with Volvo IT
  • In 2007, Volvo IT incorporated Fortos, a management consulting practice, and WirelessCar, a telematics service provider
