The Volvo Group OFTP2 migration project was closed June 30th, 2011
The OFTP2 migration project was closed June 30th, 2011.
We thank all EDI partners that have migrated, for their cooperation during the project period.
If you have not yet migrated to OFTP2 you risk losing your EDI connection with the Volvo Group!
The Volvo Group will cut the ISDN and X.25 lines on September 30th, 2011. Please contact our EDI Support team (via the service request form on our web site: www.volvo.com/edi) for assistance.
N.B. Due to the limited resources available (from now and up until the time we cut the lines); we need you to contact our Support team and schedule your migration as soon as possible, or we can’t guarantee that you will be migrated on time.
Kind regards
Volvo IT OFTP2 Project (20110630)
Volvo Group and OFTP2
Due to the closing of X.25 and ISDN Volvo Group has decided to migrate all EDI partners using OFTP over X.25 and ISDN to OFTP2 over TCP/IP. The using of OFTP2 will also reduce cost and increase performance, especially for CAD files. Volvo IT will discontinue supporting X.25 and ISDN by the end of 2010. For more information see letter from Volvo Purchasing Council.
An OFTP2 Migration project at Volvo IT is working to carry out this task. Each EDI partner connected to Volvo Group using OFTP over X25 or ISDN has been or will be shortly contacted by mail with more information regarding how to migrate. The receivers of the mail should also reply to the mail to verify the partners contact person for EDI communication.
If you are in the scope of the OFTP2 migration but have not yet been contacted by Volvo IT, please contact: oftp2@volvo.com
Attention - ready for OFTP2 migration?
Volvo Group EDI partners prepared to migrate to OFTP2: Please check that you fulfil the technical requirements (stated below). Then log on to the EDI Self Service Service, accessible in Supplier Portal: http://supplierportal.volvo.com/. In the EDI Self Service Portal you will set up your OFTP2 parameters and perform OFTP2 communication tests. NB! If you need access to the EDI Self Service Portal or have been selected for manual OFTP2 migration, contact us at oftp2@volvo.com.
How will Volvo Group use OFTP2
AB Volvo will implement session level encryption by using Transport Layer Security (TLS). The TLS provides data confidentiality by encryption of all protocol commands and data exchanged between Volvo Group and our partners. This will provide enough security, preventing a third party from extracting any useful information from the transmission.
AB Volvo will not use OFTP2-functionality for file encryption, signing and compression.
Technical requirements
The EDI partner needs to take action to secure the fulfilment of the technical requirements, see information regarding OFTP2 communication.
