What is your role at Volvo IT? For how long have you had it? Have you held any other positions in Volvo IT before this one?
I am the global manager of the business consulting function within General Solutions. I have had this position since September 2010. I had a similar position outside of Volvo IT before. Since I have been at Volvo IT I have always been involved with internal consulting activities, first within management consulting and now in business consulting. When I worked as a management consultant I got the occasion to work with a lot of various internal clients in Volvo, on process re-engineering or change management in various multicultural contexts.
Now that I am in the business consulting side, I am in charge of setting up the activity, the team, and our services. We basically sell our IT consulting services to other entities within the Volvo group. We have a wide range of consulting services in our portfolio, some of which we are working at developing further as a team. So our role is always evolving and there is never a routine!
I love consulting and the Volvo group offers so many opportunities of participating to challenging projects in areas that are very diverse.
Why did you choose to work at Volvo IT?
I chose Volvo IT because it is a global organization and I had the opportunity to get projects and assignments in a multicultural environment. I also like that it is a big company and that therefore it offers many opportunities career-wise.
How would you describe the culture of Volvo IT?
I would describe it as young and energetic, innovative. People are very open-minded and go by the 3 pillars of our corporate culture defined at Volvo IT level: professionalism, spirit, respect.
What do you do when you’re not working? Interests, hobbies?
I enjoy cooking a lot and hosting dinner parties. Also I work out a little bit and dance salsa. I am also into creative activities and do a lot of scrapbooking and sewing.
What would you like to say to a person considering applying for a job within Volvo IT?
I would recommend that they don’t only look at the position that they are applying for but also look at all the opportunities that may come afterwards and see the Volvo group as a career generator. Also, I would recommend that they come with an open-mind as we have so many different cultures internally that one experience is very rich and can be overwhelming if you are not prepared for that. I would also encourage people with ideas to speak up and suggest things as entrepreneurs are always welcome!
